2004-current Managing Member Journalism Development Group LLC New York, NY/Sarajevo, BiH
Co-founded innovative media development organization with over $8 million in contracts. Helped design, build and direct Center for Investigative Reporting (CIN) in Sarajevo, a leading regional independent investigative center. Developed Crime and Corruption Reporting Program (CCRP), a regional partnership founded by CIN and the Romanian Center for Investigative Journalism. Helped design and oversee administration of Algerian Journalism Management Program, the first indepth management consulting program in Algeria for the US Department of State. Advisor and member of CIN board of directors. Director of CCRP.
2002--2003 Print Media Advisor, IREX ProMedia Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina
Designed and implemented programs to improve the look, content, management, staff and sustainability of seven Bosnian newspaper and magazine clients for a USAID-funded NGO. Helped media owners improve standards in their news organizations and circulation while facing poor economic conditions, an ethnically divided society, dangerous reporting conditions, poorly trained reporters and editors all in a post-conflict, pre-Democratic society.  Set up and conducted training programs in media law, investigative reporting, CAR and newsroom management. Worked to build capability of media support organizations including a press council, journalism association and media center.
2000-2004 Consultant/trainer for Internews, IREX, ICFJ and the CWPNM and others
  International Research and Exchanges Board: designed and executed a program to train Bosnian reporters on how to teach Internet and computer-assisted reporting. Trained hundreds of reporters on the basics of journalism, Internet, CAR and investigative reporting. Internews: worked with Burmese Independent News Agency to develop reporting skills for reporters working undercover in Burma. CWPNM: Trained journalists in Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia on diversity issues, reporting in conflict areas, post-conflict reporting and investigative reporting. ICFJ, IREX and others: Trained journalists in tackling the underreported issue of sex-trafficking in Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia.

  Covered Nashville city government. Lead reporter on city council, the mayor and city elections. Later promoted to projects team where I did stories on faulty school testing, charity scams, racial profiling, misuse of government funds and other issues.

  Analyzed data and reported for special assignment team. Helped reporters worldwide on computer-assisted reporting stories. Designed software and built intranet site to allow reporters to search more than 100 databases online. Analyzed data and reported on stories that won numerous national awards including stories on child labor in America, on Bureau of Land Management employees who sold government horses for meat and about safety problems in carnival rides.
