The Astvatsatsin (Mother of God) Church in the Noravank (New) Monastery. Founded in 1205 by Bishop Hovhannes, this monastery was an important center in the 13th and 14 centuries. It includes St. Karapet church (not pictured) and some of the finest examples of khachkars in the country. The church pictured includes a chapel on the second floor and a crypt for the the Orbelian family, the churches main patrons, on the ground floor.
