Sarajevo, Republic of
Bosnia-Herzegovina
The Balkans
I am currently living in Sarajevo in Bosnia-Herzegovina. I do a lot of things
including:
- I consultant and advise news organizations on ways to improve their journalism,
management and quality.
- I train reporters in investigative reporting and other skills.
- I have worked extensively with the International
Center for Journalists and the Center
for War, Peace and the News Media on training reporters to cover the
trafficking of human beings. I have worked with journalists editing,
reporting and writing more than 50 stories on trafficking in Bosnia, Serbia,
Montenegro, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania in the
Balkans and Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan in the Caucasus. I
also work occasionally for the International Research and
Exchanges Board and others.
- I am the Media Development Advisor for the Center
for War, Peace and the News Media.
Here are some of my training
resources.
Netnovinar.org -- A training
newsletter dealing with CAR and the Internet for journalists in the Balkans.
This project was started by my staff at IREX and is one of the most useful
things on the Balkan web space. When I introduce myself to people in the
region, they often say "hey, you write for NetNovinar." I do and I'm
proud of it.
